Our team member, Kizzy, has recently experienced the loss of her friend and gardener Henry. Henry passed away too soon at the age of 32 due to tuberculosis, leaving behind his loving wife Claudene (left), his 12-year-old daughter Laurencia (centre), and his elderly mother Mieta (right).
Henry was a man of extraordinary character, known for his friendly demeanor, strong work ethic, boundless curiosity for life, and a smile that shone brighter than life itself. Over the past 11 years, he has been more than a gardener to us; he was a part of our family. He watched my children grow up, and my parents grow old, playing a crucial role in building our house and creating a beautiful garden on our small farm in the Western Cape. Henry’s untimely departure has left an irreplaceable void in our lives.
As the sole provider, Henry’s passing has put his family in a difficult position, facing the grim reality of poverty with scant job opportunities in their rural area. This campaign aims to provide immediate and sustained support to Claudene, Laurencia, and Mieta, ensuring they have food on the table and that Laurencia can go back to school.
How You Can Help: We have established this GoFundMe to raise £3,000 which will be directly used to support Henry’s family. Your donations will help with:
-
Securing weekly food hampers for Claudene, Laurencia, and Mieta.
-
Covering educational expenses for Laurencia.
-
Providing basic needs and medical care for Mieta.
-
Offering some financial cushion during this tough period.
-
Every penny raised will be used for the above needs
